Our Story

We are the Martin family-- Japheth, Jillian, and our six children: Azure, Lilly, Maddox, Damian, Norah, and Sawyer. Japheth was raised on a cow dairy farm in Indiana and has farmed all his life. Jillian grew up in Iowa on a small homestead. They married in 2011, and not long after, Jillian became interested in pastured dairy. She thought maybe a miniature Jersey cow would be a good addition to the farm, but Japheth, being a Holstein man, disagreed. Then Jillian decided that dairy goats might be a better option, so Japheth surprised her with a small herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats in September 2014. He was adamant that he would not be drinking the milk, having had a bad experience with goat milk in his growing-up years.

However, Nubians and Nigerians have the highest butterfat of dairy goat breeds, and with proper feeding and handling, their milk is creamy and sweet. Japheth discovered that goat milk can be delicious! He became more and more involved with the goats and bought his first grade Nubian doe in 2019.

We have since grown our herd to approximately 50 milking does between the two breeds. For years now, it has been our dream to have a creamery, and after talking with other local farmers, a herdshare program seemed like a good place to start.

We experimented with various yogurt and cheese cultures, began making kefir and an amazing goat milk caramel sauce, and we feel that we have excellent products to offer our herdshare members. In 2019, Japheth bought a used kiln and wheel, and began taking pottery classes in 2020. He now sells his pots at various craft shows and artisan markets, and we are excited to also offer them in our online store.

Committed to Sustainable Farming

Our goats are pastured during the spring, summer, and fall, and fed an organic alfalfa/grass mix hay-free choice. They receive a custom-mixed non-GMO grain ration while on the milking stand.

Our hens are fed a non-GMO layer ration, and spend their days scratching for bugs and eating greens in our pastures.

Our goat meat is harvested from our own goats, raised naturally on our farm without growth hormones.

Dairy goats consume less water per gallon of milk produced, produce more milk on less feed, and can thrive on land and forage that dairy cows cannot.
